Entusiasmo, curiosità e passione.

Con queste parole si può sintetizzare la storia ventennale dell'Associazione culturale Prova e Riprova di Torino.
Nata nel gennaio 1989, per iniziativa di un gruppo di amanti del libro antico e di pregio, desiderosi di riscoprire e mettere in pratica le antiche tecniche di legatura, l'Associazione ha visto crescere notevolmente nel tempo il numero dei propri iscritti.
La sua sede, in un elegante edificio della Torino liberty , dispone di una spaziosa e luminosa mansarda attrezzata con strumenti d'epoca e moderni, in cui possono svolgere la loro attività una decina di persone contemporaneamente. Una piccola biblioteca, specializzata nella legatura e nel restauro dei libri, contribuisce alla gradevolezza del luogo.
Sin dalla sua nascita, l'Associazione ha organizzato conferenze e seminari sulla storia e le varie tecniche della legatura, in modo da fornire un consistente quadro teorico di riferimento.
E per consolidare tali basi, ha proposto numerosi viaggi-studio in Italia e all'estero (Austria, Francia, Gran Bretagna) per consentire la visita a importanti laboratori di restauro, archivi e biblioteche e il confronto diretto con esperti del settore.
Dal punto di vista teorico-pratico, accanto alle ormai consolidate attività di legatoria e restauro svolte sotto la guida di noti professionisti, Prova e Riprova ha proposto corsi di cartonnage, cartapesta, decorazione della carta, calligrafia e miniatura medievale.. Ma non solo con i Corsi si è espressa la vitalità dell'Associazione . In questi vent'anni Prova e Riprova ha tenuto numerosi stages condotti da esperti quali Cristina Balbiano, Luciano Fagnola e Marina Regni.
I lusinghieri risultati e riconoscimenti , ottenuti dall'Associazione e dai suoi associati in concorsi e mostre internazionali in Italia e all'Estero (Francia, Gran Bretagna, Stati Uniti), costituiscono un giusto riconoscimento al serio e appassionato lavoro ventennale del Presidente Attilio Grossi e uno stimolo per tutti.
A questo punto della storia, non rimane che augurare cento di questi anni!

Par ces mots on peut exprimer synthétiquement l'histoire de l'Association culturelle Prova e Riprova de Turin. Crée en janvier 1989 par un groupe d'amateurs du livre ancien qui souhaitaient qui redécouvrir et remettre en valeur les anciennes techniques des artisans relieurs, au cours des années l'Association " Prova e Riprova " a vu s'accroître considérablement le nombre de ses adhérents. Son siège est situé dans un immeuble élégant de style floréal. Dans ses locaux lumineux et spacieux, une dizaine de personnes peuvent travailler en même temps, en utilisant un équipement d'outils anciens et modernes. Une petite bibliothèque spécialisée dans les domaines de la reliure et de la restauration est à la disposition des membres de l'Association. Depuis sa création, l'Association " Prova e Riprova " a organisé des conférences et des séminaires sur l'histoire de la reliure et sur ses différentes techniques. Afin d'approfondir les différents aspects des métiers du livre, des visites aux grandes bibliothèques, aux archives et aux ateliers de restauration, en Italie et en Europe (Autriche, France, Royaume Uni), ont également été proposées aux associés. Sous la conduite de professionnels reconnus, " Prova e Riprova " a aussi promu des cours de cartonnage, de papier mâché, de décoration du papier, de calligraphie et d'enluminure, ainsi que des stages d'approfondissent confiés à des spécialistes tels que Cristina Balbiano, Luciano Fagnola et Marina Regni Les prix obtenus par l'Association et par ses membres dans plusieurs concours en Italie et à l'étranger (France, Royaume Uni, Etats-Unis) sont la reconnaissance du travail sérieux, assidu et passionné accompli au cours de vingt ans par l'Association " Prova e Riprova " et par son Président, M. Attilio Grossi.

These words summarize the twenty-year history of the "Prova e Riprova" Cultural Association. Founded in January 1989, by a group of antique and quality book lovers who were eager to rediscover and practice the ancient bookbinding techniques, the Association has grown in membership. It is located in an elegant building of the Art Nouveau district in Torino, inside a spacious and sunny attic equipped with both antique and modern instruments, where up to ten binders can work. A small library, specialized in bookbinding and restoration, contributes to the pleasantness of the place. Since its foundation, the Association has organized conferences and seminars on the history and techniques of bookbinding, so as to contribute a theoretical frame to the bookbinding practice. Many study-trips, both in Italy and abroad, have been offered to allow the Association members to visit important restoration workshops, archives, and libraries and to meet with experts in the field. On the theoretical-practical level, in addition to the consolidated binding and restoration activities that have taken place under the guidance of renowned professionals, Prova e Riprova has offered cartonnage, papier-mâché, paper decoration, calligraphy, and Medieval illumination courses. The Association has expressed its vitality also through numerous stages conducted by such experts as Cristina Balbiano, Luciano Fagnola, and Marina Regni. The outstanding results and recognitions obtained by the Association and its members in both national and international contests and exhibitions represent a well-deserved acknowledgement of the serious and passionate work of its President Attilio Grossi over the past twenty years and an encouragement to all. At this point in our history we cannot but wish the Association one hundred and more years of activity.
